That Day in Pictures - Eating Day

Almost exactly 2 year ago, my son Dane was preparing to leave the country for Australia to serve a mission for our church.  We were still living in Alamo CA and I was set to drive him to Provo UT so he could prepare at the MTC for a couple weeks and then take off.  Dan and I asked him what he wanted to do his last day of "civilian life" and he replied that he wanted to eat a few favorite foods, like junk food he had been avoiding while he was at college.  We went beyond that request and suggested an eating day all over the city of San Francisco.  He gave us his food list, we planned a route, and decided that due to the number of items on his list and places we had to go, we would share an item at every location so that we wouldn't be eating too excessively.  Except for breakfast - we didn't share and each ate our own donut.  We began at Great Donuts in the Alamo Plaza and then, practically next door, we went to Bagel Street Cafe and got the loaded one to split.  We were dressed up in our Sunday best for this portion of the day because Dane had had an interview with the Stake President.  After breakfast, we changed in to better clothes for eating.

We then set off for the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco where we split this cream filled chocolate confection, a pork bun, and a gelato.

Dan and Dane were looking at our list to see what comes next.  Which was Chinatown.  We decided not to eat there but instead crossed the Golden Gate bridge in to Sausalito for Mexican food at La Copita.

We split chips and guacamole and each ate a tiny taco.  I highly recommend that place - Dan and I ate there many times.

We then headed to Recchiuti's for their super thick hot chocolate.  Recchiuti's is a San Francisco boutique chocolate company.  I copied down their brownie recipe they had displayed at the shop.  I don't know if I've even made them yet!

Then to Golden Gate Park to walk all over and kill time before the next meal, which would be a sit down one that we would not split.

We headed to the Mission district to eat authentic ramen at Ken Ken.  We got there just as they opened their doors for dinner.

After dinner, we ended our eating day in the Dogpatch area at the Chocolate Lab.  We split several items.  What a fabulously tasty day!!!  We might have to do this again here in New England when he comes home from Australia next month!
